James Harold Gilbert Fennell was the son of George Fennell, living at 20 Hereford Villas, Swindon Road. He had been a member of the Gordon Boys’ Brigade prior to enlisting.
At the age of 19 he became a Private in the 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, and died on 5 October 1918, age 22. James is buried at Bellicourt British Cemetery where his grave is marked by a cross.
