John Reeves Carne was the son of William and Elizabeth Carne of South Hackney, and attended Cheltenham Training College from 1908 – 1910.
He became a Second Lieutenant in the 12th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment and died on 25 July 1917, aged 27. John is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery and his headstone reads “Loved By All Who Knew Him”.
