Leonard Henry Cox was the son of Leonard and Margaret Cox, living at 11 Northfield Terrace, Cheltenham. His three brothers, Reginald, Gilbert and William, all fought in the war.
Leonard became a Private in the 2nd Battalion Essex Regiment and was killed while fighting in the Flanders region on 1 September 1918, age 26. He was initially buried then later exhumed and reburied at Dury Crucifix Cemetery.
