Reginald Arthur Pigott was born on 11 September 1878 and had been a pupil at the Practising School.

Reginald was a plumber and fitter by trade and became a 1st Class Petty Officer in the Royal Navy, serving on the HMS Monmouth. He was killed at the battle of Coronel on 1st November 1914 when his ship was sunk by the German fleet off the coast of Chile. At the time the HMS Monmouth was trying to assist the HMS Good Hope, which was on fire and sinking. Reginald is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial. He died on the same day and during the same battle as the twins Edward and Harry Turner, also past Practising School pupils.
