Robert Anderson Waring was born in 1886, the son of George and Elizabeth Waring of Cambray Chambers, Cheltenham.

After attending the Practising School he emigrated to Canada where he joined the 28th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry at a Private. Robert arrived in France in September 1915 and was stationed in the Ypres area when he sustained wounds from which he died aged 29 on 28 September 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
