Sidney George Henry Jackson was born on 11 February 1894, son of George Henry Jackson. Sidney attended the Practising School from 8 January 1900 while he lived at 2 Kingston Cottages, St Paul’s Road, with his parents. He went on to marry Florence and moved to 34 Exmouth Street.

Sidney enlisted in the Somerset Light Infantry before becoming a Lance Corporal in the 7th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment. He died on 14 October 1917, age 23, while trying to take Passchendaele Ridge from enemy hands and in appalling conditions. Sidney has no known grave and is honoured on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
