Sidney George Little was born on 30 September 1894 and lived with his parents George and Fanny at Willoughby Cottages on Swindon Road.

He enlisted in 1912 before war broke out and went on to be both mentioned in dispatches and awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field. Sidney achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 12th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment and was wounded eleven times during the conflict. The last wound saw a piece of shrapnel lodged next to his heart, and on 28 June 1918 he dropped down dead amongst his men while moving forward to attack the enemy. He was aged just 23 and left a widow in Cheltenham. Sidney is buried at Haverskerque British Cemetery in Northern France.
