Thomas Morris was a student from 1911 – 1913 and originally from Westhoughton, Lancashire, the son of Benjamin and Mary Ann. Whilst a student he was part of the soccer team and gained a first-class teaching qualification.

He became a Private in the 169th Company Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) and was killed on 15 September 1916, aged 24. Having no known grave he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
