Victor James Ransom was born c.1889 and had been a pupil at the Practising School.
He enlisted as a Private in the 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment in September 1914, and sent to France. He was arrived in London in January 1915 suffering from frostbite but later re-joined his regiment. He was wounded by heavy machine gun fire near Ferme du Bois and died of his wounds in hospital in Boulogne on 14 May 1915, aged 26. His brother George also died in the war.
