Wallace Williams was born in Cheltenham and worked at Messers Norman Brothers Printers in Bennington Street prior to the outbreak of war.
Wallace joined the 1st/ 5th (Territorial) Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment as a Private and after being wounded was later transferred to the 1st Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He was 23 years old when he died on 14 October 1918 during the Battle of Courtrai. Wallace was initially buried then exhumed and reburied at Dadizeele New British Cemetery in Belgium. His grave is marked by a cross.
