Wilfred John Wood was a Cheltenham Training College student from 1910 – 1912. Originally from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, he was the son of Robert and Isabel Wood of 125 Hindpool Road.

He was a Second Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion Middlesex Regiment who died on 1 July 1916, age 25. He was originally buried in a collective grave at Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers La Boisselle, France, and later transferred to a single grave. His headstone reads “Until the resurrection morn”.
