Wilfred Onions was a student at Cheltenham Training College from 1906 – 1908 and was originally from Tredegar, Monmouth. He played cricket and rugby at college, and went to work as a teacher at Georgetown Senior Mixed School in Tredegar after qualification.
He was a Second Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion Monmouthshire Territorials and died at Ypres on 25 April 1915, aged 26. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, having no known grave.
