Edward Brian Parsons, son of Mr and Mrs John Vincent, was born on the 12 September 1922 and lived at 14 St Pauls Parade, Cheltenham. He was educated at St Pauls Practising School from April 1934 – December 1937 and on leaving joined the Royal Navy. He saw considerable action being onboard HMS Dorsetshire in the early stages of the war. 

Able Seaman Parsons was killed in action on 5 April 1942, aged 19, by a surprise attack of dive-bombers from a Japanese carrier force in the Bay of Bengal resulting in a significant loss of life at sea. He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
