Frederick Bert Emerson was born on 3 June 1904, son of Charles and Agnes Emerson. He lived at 17 Hanover Street and later 10 Providence Square, Victoria Place, Cheltenham. He was educated at St Pauls Practising School from September 1913 to May 1918, leaving to work for the Co-Op.
He later and worked as an engineer for the General Post Office before his conscription in 1940 to the 10th Battalion, The Gloucestershire Regiment. Private Emerson was killed during an advance along the Myitkyina-Mandalay in Burma on 10 August 1944 aged 44. After the War his remains were reinterred at Taukkyan War Cemetery.
