Hubert Donald Buckley was a student at St Paul’s College from 1932-1934, where he was sports editor for the student magazine ‘The Chelt’. His college nickname was “Birdie”. After college he became a teacher for the City of Birmingham Education Department.  

He joined the 35th Squadron RAF as a Pilot Officer and was reported missing presumed killed following a raid on Cologne on 11 December 1942, aged 28. Hubert left a wife, Gwendoline. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
