John Cecil Francis was the son of John and Elizabeth who lived at Elm, Wisbeck, Cambridgeshire. John trained to be a teacher at St Paul’s College from 1936-1938. His college nickname was “Birdie” and he was a member of the Athens house group.
John became a Flight Lieutanant in the RAF when he was killed on 2 April 1952, age 27. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, having no known grave.
