John Howard Jervis attended St Paul’s College from 1935-1937. The admission register lists his address as 236 Marlborough Road, Swindon, Wiltshire. John’s college nickname was “Prof” and he was a member of the Athens house group. After leaving college John married Mary and lived at Rodwell, Weymouth, Dorset.
He joined the 11th Company Pioneer Corps as a Corporal and was killed on the Italian Front on 17 September 1943, aged 28. He is buried at Salerno War Cemetery where his headstone reads “In memory of my dear John, Beloved husband and friend, Of Mary, Daddy of Jennifer and Susan”.
