Students conducting pre-season fitness tests with local professional football team
25th July 2018
A team of sport scientists in the Community of Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Gloucestershire led by Dr Simon Fryer are continuing their work assisting Forest Green Rovers Football Club in the Sky Bet League Two. Staff and students conduct a variety of tests with the team throughout the year.
Recently, the team have just completed their pre-season fitness screening which included lactate threshold testing, assessments of heart rate max, determination of body composition and an injury profile assessment. One of the fantastic things about the relationship between the club and the University of Gloucestershire’s Sport and Exercise Sciences team is the experiences that the students gain. Students at Level 4, 5 and 6 are able to undertake 9 month sport science placements with the club assisting them in a range of activities throughout the season.
