EQuiPPE project goes live

September saw the completion of the Enhancing Quality in Primary Physical Education (EQuiPPE) project. Funded by the Erasmus+ programme and led by Dr Colin Baker (Senior Research Fellow in the Community of Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences) in the School of Sport and Exercise, the 30 month project involved a multi-country partnership between the University of Gloucestershire and institutions in Poland, Romania, Greece and the Czech Republic.

The project recognised that P.E. at the primary level is often taught by generalists without specific training or knowledge of P.E. This has potentially negative implications for professional practice and young children’s health and physical activity habits. Incorporating the concept of physical literacy in a package to support teachers’ practices the EQuiPPE project seeks to improve confidence and competence in delivering primary P.E.
