Living Room Lecture Exploring the Journey from Student to Lecturer

Where: Online

Cost: Free

In the third of the new season of Living Room Lectures, Jack James, Professional Policing lecturer, talks about his inspirational journey.

Jack joined the University of Gloucestershire to study Criminology in 2013. And today, as a university lecturer and a Special Inspector, he is inspiring a new generation of students.

Jack also has a background in response and community policing, having previously worked full-time as coordinator for a Gloucestershire Police and Tewkesbury Borough Council joint initiative to divert young people away from the criminal justice system.

As part of the University’s Living Room Lecture series, Jack will talk us through his journey from student to lecturer, and inspire us to make the most of our own university experiences.

Jack said: “I studied BSc Criminology at the university before completing my Masters degree in International Security at the University of Bath.

“Now, I’m a University of Gloucestershire Lecturer, teaching across the Professional Policing course, particularly during practical sessions such as ‘stop and search’, premise searches and crime scene investigation. I’m also a serving Inspector with the British Transport Police Special Constabulary.

“My research interests include the police use of tasers, armed policing in the UK, and counter terrorism. My career so far has been quite a journey.”
