The University of Gloucestershire is delighted to welcome Lord Michael Bichard to present the annual Chancellor’s Lecture.

He will explore whether Whitehall, Westminster, local government and the National Health Service are functioning well, and how they might be improved.

Former Chief Executive of Gloucestershire County Council, Lord Bichard then moved to lead the Benefit Agency, and was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Employment Department.

In his role as Permanent Secretary of the Employment and Education Department he worked closely with David Blunkett on education reform. Retiring from the civil service in 2001, he was created a crossbench life peer in 2010 and became the Chair of the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) in 2013.

The Chancellor’s Lecture will take place in TC014 at the Park campus, and starts at 6pm.
