Developing the Professional Practitioner: finding solutions amidst competing agendas

Your Future Plan and School of Sport & Exercise

Abstract

From the Your Future Plan (YFP) team and School of Sport & Exercise, this keynote presents how we have modelled a holistic, end-to-end student journey approach to developing the professional practitioner. By acknowledging the challenges and offering solutions, the team will share with you their approach to supporting the personal and professional development of students. They will share how they have drawn from the University Employability and YFP agenda to complement the principles of Learning Design and aligning to wider School priorities for Graduate Outcomes. The model takes an integrated approach that draws upon our professional services, our employers and our students to co-design the provision that is delivered both within and beyond the curriculum.

Within this conversation you will hear from students, sharing how the model enables their personalised journey, and they will also illustrate the flexibility the model brings to accommodate their diversity of background and ambition.
