Local Heritage Initiative

The Local Heritage Initiative (LHI) project was a grants programme for local projects around England funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund between 2000 and 2006. Communities were encouraged to establish projects which explored their unique local heritage and covered aspects such as archaeology, industry, the natural and built environment and customs and traditions. Communities then produced items such as booklets, multimedia and oral histories of which the Special Collections and ArchivesĀ hold copies of.
