Second Year, Gianluca Loffredo, shoots work for the subculture brief and the Moving Image brief.

Subculture

For my subculture module brief, I’ve decided to focus on the Vaporwave community. This online subgenre involves arts from electronic music to fashion, featuring heavy post-production, juxtaposition, surreal and futuristic themes, politics, the 1980s and 1990s imagery and musical styles and a highly criticized consumer culture.

Since there are no main platforms or zines, the majority of the interactions between the vaporwave culture take place on social media, websites and anonymous boards like the platforms 4chan or Reddit.

Pepsi brand features a lot in vaporwave visuals and the idea of this series is to use this criticism and culture to promote an advertising campaign that can be used as an editorial piece to represent and the vaporwave community.

Moving Image

The idea of this moving image piece is for my module course work is to create an identity behind a watch. I wanted to express the qualities, the making-of and materials of the product with a strong visual and auditive communication.
