Bullring / Brindley Place visit
2nd November 2012
On October 17th 2012 there was a landscape student visit to Birmingham. This was the second in the series for the Field Week module and allowed students to visit the Bullring development (Landscape Architect: Gross Max), the interconnected pedestrian links directly through the centre of the city, including the new library (Architect: MVRDV), and finishing at Brindley Place, a prizewinning Urban Regeneration project (Landscape Architect: Robert Townshend).
In the evening the students attended the Landscape Institute’s Annual Jellicoe Lecture given by Robert Townshend and entitled ‘From Brindley Place to Kings Cross‘. This was a fascinating presentation on the benefits of urban regeneration driven byLandscape Architecture and open space design.
