Piet Oudolf landscape & exhibition, Hauser and Wirth, Somerset
30th September 2014
If anyone has the opportunity then get down to the Hauser and Wirth gallery in Bruton, Somerset this week to see the exhibition of Piet Oudolf’s drawings. It closes 5th October so this weekend is the last chance. You can get a direct train from Bath, Bristol and Gloucester and it stops about a 5 minute walk from the gallery.
It has a series of fantastic gallery spaces with a great exhibition of Phyllida Barlow’s installations, but if you are interested in landscape then the Piet Oudolf exhibition is excellent – you can see his design drawings in various stages of development which is very interesting for those learning to use planting in that way.
There is also the Oudolf Field, a landscape designed by Oudolf, as one of the permanent works of art on the land. Planted this year it is already looking fantastic. If you don’t make it for the drawings exhibition then the Field is open to visit all year round.
