Mie Spicer shoots work for the Introduction to Editorial and Advertising module

I have recently become interested in music photography which is what inspired me for this portrait brief. I know a band called Sell By who I managed to collaborate with to do a photography shoot which I was able to use for this brief as they were able to use the image to promote their band.

The image with all the band member was inspired by an eerie, edgy style which suits the bands’ music genre. I wanted to focus on promotional photography shoots instead of live gig shoots as it enabled me to control and manipulate settings such as exposure, shutter speed as well as controlling the posing in the shoots so that the style and theme was clearer to my audience.

I chose to do my cosmetics brief on Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. I grew up listening to her music and fell in love with her cosmetic brand when it was released. I focused on her lip glosses which she produces as they are one of my favourite products by her, in addition to this, it is the most product which I have bought from Fenty. Makeup is important to me as it enables me to be creative with my looks and makes me feel more confident. Creating a still life and target audience images enabled be to be creative and I was able to focus on different aspects of Fenty. I wanted to promote her lip glosses, mainly to girls around my age as many of us grew up listening to Rihanna which has led to many girls of my generation fall in love with her cosmetic products.
