Michael Bedore (middle, photo) has won this year’s Jo Yeates Landscape Design Prize – congratulations to Michael. The prize was set up by BDP (Building Design Partnership) in memory of Jo Yeates who studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Gloucestershire while working for BDP in Bristol.

The prize was awarded by Martin Jones & Jo McAllister of BDP Bristol for the best design portfolio of the year. Martin described Michaels work as:

…outstanding. His approach from concept to finished project was unbelievable – I’ve never seen anything like it! Everything was linked from the concept to the words to the paper it was presented on. It was such a strong piece of work.

Michael focused on developing theories of the Anthropomorphic Landscape which he explored through the Landscape Innovation Studio module and applied within his design project for the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone in Bristol as part of the Landscape Design Studio module, both at postgraduate level. He is currently studying for his Masters exploring and developing further the ideas of the Anthropomorphic Landscape.

Michael will now have the opportunity to use the prize money to explore an aspect of Landscape Architecture he is particularly interested in and then present his findings back at next year’s End of Year Show.
