Jamie Metcalfe (UoG Graduate 2013) – Assistant Landscape Architect @ Atkins Global
On any given day, I can be working on several different projects ranging from large scale master plan to small highway designs. One project I am currently working on is a large scale university campus in the Middle East. I am involved in daily project meetings that may include architects and various engineers. We discuss all the issues we see arising and determine the best way to tackle them in order to progress the overall design. After that I may be preparing presentations for the client, working up detailed drawings and construction methods and outlining materials. I tend to work normal hours although project deadlines can alter this!
Landscape Architecture as a profession is great as you have such a variety of projects to keep you interested. But the most enjoyable feature of the profession is seeing people use and enjoy the spaces you design.
