The Terrarium Project – Undergraduate Applicant Day 2016

The Art and Design applicant day gave our UCAS applicants the fantastic opportunity to come and experience for a few hours what it’s like to be a student here at the UoG.

We decided to give our applicants a whirlwind tour of Landscape Architecture. We discussed the concept of sustainability in landscape design & construction including sourcing hard materials and plants, resilient landscapes, repurposing and recycling, and working with natural systems. Then to put all of this into practice we built a miniature self-sustaining landscape; a terrarium!

This was followed up with a short presentation by Allan Mitchell, UG course leader, to applicants and their guests at an informal meeting where they also got to meet their future lecturers and ask any questions they had about life at the University of Gloucestershire.

We really enjoyed meeting our future students and hope they enjoyed designing & building their first landscape!
