Guest Lecture on Getting Published & the Industry

On Wednesday second year students from our WT200 module attended a session with Cardiff-based writer Susie Wild, Mslexia’s former Literary ‘It’ Girl, who came in to discuss her work and the publishing industry.  Susie is a multi-tasking, multi-talented author/editor who writes poetry, short fiction, journalism, and also reviews for the stage and screen.  Her debut story collection, The Art of Contraception, received the Iconau Fiction Book of the Year Award, and her work and words have appeared in a wide range of broadsheets and periodicals, including the Guardian, New Welsh Review, The Big Issue Cymru, Buzz, The Western Mail, Clash Magazine and ArtRocker.  She is also an associate editor at Parthian Books.  After an in-depth interview, Susie answered student questions about her work, getting published, and how to cut it in the cut-throat realm of freelance journalism.  Many thanks to Susie, and to all those who came along to the session, for making it so successful.
