2014: Carnival

The UoG Creative Writing anthology 2014 – Diverse, Spirited, Expressive

Carnival: New Writing III was the first of our anthologies to be co-edited by students on our MA programme.  Under the guidance of Senior Lecturer Tyler Keevil, on his module HM7106: Creative Industries, the students maintained the tradition of innovative, eclectic, and quality writing that has been the hallmark of the New Writing series since its inception.  Carnival is available to buy direct from Lulu and Amazon.

The editorial masthead for Carnival is as follows:

Carnival Cover Final (Nov 20)

Carnival was launched on Dec. 4th, 2014, in a wonderful event at Francis Close Hall campus.  The launch was a true carnival and a bacchanalia of words.  The editors pulled out all the stops, so that the crowd was able to imbibe in libations, take part in carnival games, have their faces painted, and sample the popcorn and cotton candy and other carnival snacks.  Readings took place in the big top known as TC001, followed by a private after-party at Copa.  Below you’ll find photos from the night (click through for large versions).

The Carnival Contributors are (prose, poetry, & artwork): Eris Barrett, Philip Bowne, Heather Cripps, James Dighton, Barbara Dixon, Juleesa Edwards, David Evans-Pritchard, Victoria Green, Sleiman El Hajj, Ash Hartridge, Becky Howard, AJ Hunter, Jessica Lawrence, Reece McCormack, Amanda Legal, Adam Magee, Tim Manton, Stef Nasskau, Megan Paul, Charlie Patterson, Naomi Powell, Dani Schlosser, Emmy Summers, Sophia Torriente, and Nathaniel Wilson.
