U of G graduate qualifies for BSSC 2012!

Congratulations to recent Creative Writing graduate Claire Holland, whose short screenplay ‘Melting Plastic’ has made it past the first round of selections and qualified for the renowned British Short Screenplay Competition 2012, sponsored by The Times, NFTS, and Screen International, among others. This is a big achievement for Claire. As the competition website boldly declares, BSSC is one of ‘the best and most prestigious screenplay competitions in the world.’ Claire’s excellent and original short, which she began as an assessment for her undergrad degree with us, is about an unorthodox love triangle involving a man, his girlfriend, and his…doll. It’s dark, funny, and unsettling, and deserves all the accolades it gets. Good luck to Claire as the competition progresses to the next round. The eventual winner will have their screenplay produced by Kaos Films, and the finished product will be screened both at BAFTA and selected UK cinemas, as well as entered into film festivals around the world.
