Rumours have been circulating for awhile, and we can now officially confirm it: this year, in association with the Fox Mason Ltd Literary Agency, the Creative Writing programme here at the University of Gloucestershire will be launching the inaugural U of G Novel Writing Contest.  We hope you’re as excited about this as we are.  Submissions won’t open until next month, but we thought we’d give you some forewarning so you can sharpen those pens.  Here’s the lowdown:

Any student on our BA or MA programme is eligible to submit, as well as students studying for a PhD; in addition, any student taking one of our Creative Writing modules at the undergrad or postgrad level may also submit.  All entries will be anonymous.  The submissions that make the shortlist will be forwarded to literary agent Becky Thomas, of Fox Mason, who is the finals judge.  Becky will select the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and her team will provide each with a professional industry critique.  The 1st place winner will receive £100 in prize money; 2nd place will receive £50; and 3rd place will receive a £25 book token.  Pique your interest?  Then check back in a few weeks time to see our contest rules and submission guidelines – and in the meantime, get writing!
