Kudos for our Teaching Staff

Poetry Archive LogoThe Creative Writing department had a couple bits of good news over the past few weeks.  First up, Professor Nigel McLoughlin’s work has been selected for inclusion in the prestigious Poetry Archive.  Founded by poet Andrew Motion and producer Richarde Carrington, the archive is a web-based digital library that contains recordings of poets reading their own work.  The project was started in 1999 and went live in 2005.  The site has over 3 million visitors a year, and includes recordings by such luminaries as W.B. Yeats, Dylan Thomas, Seamus Heaney, and Carol Anne Duffy.  Nigel’s page is available to peruse (and listen to) here.

Wales Book of the YearSecondly, lecturer Tyler Keevil’s recent novel, The Drive, has been shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year 2014, in the English language fiction category.  The Drive, an epic road trip adventure set in the Pacific Northwest, was given the nod alongside Francesca Rhydderch’s debut novel, The Rice Paper Diaries, and Tessa Hadley’s Clever Girl. The announcement broadcast is available to view online here.  All nominees are also eligible for the People’s Choice Award, and the winners of each category, as well as the overall winner, will be be announced on July 10th.
