The Carnival is Coming…

Hear that? There’s something blowing across the Cotswolds, stirring the wheat fields and beech trees. On the wind the crisp scent of autumn (an odd mix of mulched leaves and mulled wine and firecracker sulfur and endings that come before beginnings), and echoing from afar a distant steam whistle, banshee-shrieking through the night. Put your ear to the ground. Touch the earth. Feel the rumbling?  It’s the first reverberations of the Carnival train, rolling steadily towards Cheltenham, laden with tents and performers and rides and animals and sights that you’ll be able to catch for ONE NIGHT ONLY. That’s right, folks: the Carnival Anthology is coming to FCH in two weeks time, on the evening of Thursday December 4th. There will be readings; there will be Carnival-themed drinks and snacks and games; there will be laughter, tears, and celebration; there will be a tub-thumping after-party; there will be all that and more – including the results of the inaugural UoG Novel Writing Contest. Watch this space for emerging details over the next fortnight. In the meantime, allow us to pique your interest by revealing the anthology’s cover, courtesy of our in-house designer, Shona Kelly…
