Carnival Opens On Campus!
5th December 2014
Last night the Carnival opened its doors on FCH campus for one night only, leading to a bacchanalian celebration of words! Thank you to everybody who attended the launch of the Carnival anthology, the latest installment in our renowned New Writing series, showcasing the best work from our Creative Writing students.
We had a great turnout and the student editors of Carnival – from our MA programme – were wonderful hosts; the crowd was able to imbibe in libations, take part in carnival games, and sample the popcorn and cotton candy and other carnival snacks.
After that we all moved into the big top – TC001 – to hear readings from some of the talented Carnival contributors, notably Reece McCormack, Phil Bown, Dani Schlosser, Nathaniel Wilson, and Ash Hartridge. Many other contributors were in attendance, as well as friends, family, fellow students, lecturing staff, and university management. In the second half, we announced the results of the inaugural UoG Novel Contest (more on this later!) before the entire collective headed across town for a private after-party at Copa. Photos of the night are available to view on the Carnival page. A big thank you to the Carnival editors, the contributors, the readers, and all those in attendance on the night.
