Catching Up On 2015 Student Achievements

It’s a new year, and the new Semester is looming.  We’ll soon be posting about some exciting Semester 2 events and opportunities for UoG writing students, and in the meantime we thought it would be a good time to take stock, and look back on a few student achievements from 2015 that haven’t yet been announced on our blog.  First up, the poets have been as busy and successful as ever, with both Amy Ford and Taylor Edmonds having had their work published on I Am Not a Silent Poet, so a big congrats to them both.  Not to be outdone, the prose writers have had success as well: MA student Rod Griffiths was selected as one of the winners in WordFactory’s Neil Gaiman Fable Competition, which was judged by Toby Litt.  Rod’s story is now available on the competition winners page.  If you’re feeling inspired by these successes, why not try your hand at submitting your work?  A perfect opportunity is forthcoming, in the next Stroud Short Stories Competition, where our students (including Rod) have had success in the past.  The deadline is March 19th, the word cap is 1,500, and full details are available here.  Happy New Year, and welcome back to the fray – it’s time to get writing again!
