RPE students visit Cheltenham Quakers meeting

This week, as part of an ongoing series of student visits to places of religious and spiritual significance in the Cheltenham area students were invited to the local Quakers meeting house to discuss aspects of sacred space and social justice with community members. There has been a long tradition of social activism among the Quakers of Cheltenham, no least of all when it has come to concerns over he environment. The community also offers a place of sanctuary for those looking for spiritual and religious peace and solace, irrespective of their actual religious affiliation. Students were made to feel very welcome and the discussions that flowed in respect of the lived religious experience of Quakers in Cheltenham and their connection with the international Quaker community were revealing and extremely interesting. Many thanks to Cal, Margaret and Sarah all who made us all incredibly welcome and fed us mountains of chocolate.
