Quakers come on campus

Level five students enjoyed an enriching two hours with prominent members of the Cheltenham Quaker community. Alison and Annie live their social justice and climate justice ethics. Alison has for many years been at the spearhead of social justice campaigning, she has been on the frontline of the Greenham Common women against nuclear weapons protest, anti-Trident campaigning and more recently with climate change activists including Extinction Rebellion. Annie likewise campaigns tirelessly for social justice and had worked closely in special education needs, feeding the homeless and with asylum seekers in the Cheltenham region. The session that they delivered for the students covered the testimonies that are central to the Quaker movement but also expressed these testimonies through the stories and examples of their own direct involvement in social , climate and gender concerns…I personally salute them for all the quiet, non violent bearing witness to injustice everywhere.
